Board 1 I (John) had a difficult and interesting game. Stephen started very forcefully in the opening. I then managed to stabilise the position but after an exchange in the centre Stephen gained my a pawn for nothing. After a long endgame Stephen swapped off until his passed a pawn was given up to enable him to gobble up my f & G pawns at which point I resigned.
Board 2 Chris fought valiantly. In the ending Paolo had two strong bishops against a rook and knight. With very little time left Chris let Paolo fork his rook and king. In an interesting finish Chris had a chance to take the only pawn on the board and would have had a drawn game. However, Chris' efforts were in vain as his time ran out.
Board 3 David had a very difficult start as Joseph was very forceful in the opening. David eventually gained the upper hand and had a good win.
Board 4 Alan was our last minute reserve. He gave a good account of himself, but his position was difficult with his king stuck on the back rank for a long time. After a long battle he eventually succumbed to Rob's pressure.
Well done to the Bournemouth Team.
