Unfortunately our regular board 4 had a family emergency and couldn't play so many thanks to Jeremy for standing at the last minute. I didn't see too much of the other games as I was too pre-occupied with my own but on board 2 (our) John had a slight edge but couldn't see a way forward so accepted the other John's offer of a draw. On board 3, Nick recovered from a shaky opening to win and on board 4, Jeremy made his opponent battle for nearly the full 3 hours before finally admitting defeat. That left board 1. It was a very exciting game that swung one way and then the other. By the time we both had only 1 minute left (thank goodness for increments!), I had R+Q v R+3 (very advanced, passed) pawns but I finally managed to force mate. Thanks to Paolo for a great game that lasted 80 moves.
