Darren Ediss (ECF rating 1664) and David Furnell( ECF rating 1590) played for Southampton on Board 1 and Board 3 respectively. They are not yet setup in the LMS list. Will request the same. Basingstoke brought two new players Thomas Hayward and Marcus Wheeler who played on Board 3 and 4 respectively and are not yet rated. It was a good match overall. Board 1 -Darren and Owen had a competitive match, Darren had an extra pawn in the endgame which proved decisive in the end and he won. Board 2 - Kevin and Dan's went till the last minute and kept the heart racing. Kevin had the advantage but there was still scope to go wrong. Dan was short of time and Kevin won in the end, Board 3 - Thomas had the edge for majority of the game but made a couple of blunders which allowed David to come back and win. In one particular position, David sneaked his queen behind Thomas's King, in the h file. Board 4 - Dean did manage to win Marcus's Queen by a family fork. However a few moves later Marcus was able to promote another queen. Dean was down on time and eventually got checkmated by Marcus. Regards Som

Fifth Board result

Hello As agreed between captains, there was a fifth Board played as below which did not contribute to the Match result between the two teams but was a graded game between the players. The game was won by Basingstoke. Board 5 : John Taylor(ECF rating 1174) from Southampton C playing Black, lost to Gavin Banks(ECF rating 1229) from Basingstoke E playing White. Request to please upload this as a graded game.
