Board 2 ended quickly when a rusty Cip missed a tactic I think he would normally have spotted. Zander and Jon's game was drawn, but I think Jon had a small edge in the final position. The other two boards were tense affairs. Martin looked like he had the advantage in the R and P ending and should have won after he managed to exchange the rooks. A subsequent mistake allowed Franz to get away with a draw. John looked like he was doing well on top board, but then allowed Kevin's N and Q to get past his outer defences. This cost John a piece, but Kevin then failed to find the simplest win and the spectators had to stay an extra half hour.
