Average grade for Purbeck was 130 and for Dorchester 140 which meant that Dorchester needed 3 1/2 points to win. A very close match went right down to the wire - the score was 3 - 2 to Dorchester with just board 4 to finish and Purbeck needing a win.It came down to a fiendishly complicated N and P ending which could have gone either way but just when it looked like Bill had everything under control, Richard found a clever way to create some counterplay and emerged victorious. The 3-all draw means Purbeck go through on handicap. The match was played in an excellent spirit and well done to both Richard and Bill who had to play the last half hour of their game with the rest of both teams watching their every move!
