Mike Davies was subject to a well executed discovered check which meant that he lost a rook and it opened up his kings position to a very quick mate. Nigel's position was very equal and a draw thus ensued. Frank was next to finish. With a pawn down at one stage, he managed to hold the position and eventually a draw was agreed after a long battle. Paul finished last, after another marathon game. He eventually swapped off a queen for a pawn on the b file so that his g pawn could forge ahead and queen.
