It was honours even in an exciting opening match of the Division 3 season with Wimborne B eking out a draw against last year's champions, Poole B. Wimborne appeared to have the edge after a win for Graham Hillman and a draw on the top board but Simon Patterson struck back for Poole to leave the match hinging on the outcome of Board 4. This game went right down to the wire with Sepp Wikramaratna-Clarke holding out resoutely against Tony Pritchard who couldn't quite make his two pawn advantage tell. With time very much against him, Tony offered a draw which Sepp gratefully accepted.
