Poole B looking strong!

Poole B got their County Division 3 campaign off to a winning start, with wins on the top two boards the foundation of their success. Michael Jackson seemed to have promising early play in his match against John Weatherlake but couldn't sustain it, while Dragi Popovic took full advantage of my generosity in surrendering two central pawns in early play. The decisive result was the highly commendable draw achieved by young Jamie Doyle on Board 3 against the experienced John Bowley, a much higher graded opponent. The one solace for Wimborne came courtesy of Phil Holden on the bottom board in an entertaining game that was last to finish. Poole B narrowly missed out on the title last season and, even at this early stage, look a good bet to finish one place higher this time around.

Great to see junior Jamie

Great to see junior Jamie Doyle secure a draw against John Bowley considering the grading difference, all in all a tight match, well done boys at least we got a win, no help from your captain though. Doh!
