Highcliffe fielded an experienced team for the Bacchus league, but to no avail Eric's young future stars of Dorset chess, took them to task very quickly gaining strong opening positions on boards 1,3 and 4. But for a small blunder on board 2 from a winning position it would have been a deserved whitewash . Board 2 salvaged some consolation but Poole Bishops played well on all boards and deserved their win being a credit to Eric and Poole and their very supportive parents.

I was delighted to field a team of young guns who exceeded all expectations by winning the match. Leo (7years old) from Brazil making his debut won fairly early (sorry Dan) followed by good wins by Josh (14) on Bd 1 against Rachel and Jack (14) against David whom was very generous in resigning when Jack (14) only had 8 minutes left on the clock. Mike playing Dylan (12) had a good game and won a rook and closed out accurately, well done all and great to see the match played in good spirit. Many thanks to all the Mum's whom braved the weather to bring the kids out. I am sure Highcliffe can turn the tables in the return match.
