We arrived at the Colliton club and went into the usual large room but had to retreat to Churchill's bunker where we hunkered down with our opponents plus Dorchester against Poole. There was not much room to move around so perhaps concentration was better than usual! The matches were all close with in order of finishing board 4 saw pieces coming off early although apparently Ronnie missed a good continuation but an early armistice was called. Board 3 was interesting with perhaps Bill having a slight edge but eventually a draw was agreed. Eddie on 1 had his pieces well placed against Allan but could not find a cutting edge so a draw was agreed. My board on 2 was interesting with me playing an early h5 and h4. I managed to close the queenside and with pieces coming off closed off any chance for Kevin and finally peace was sought so a good drawn match for Wimborne.
