Tea and Biscuits.

Tea and biscuits served by Martin this evening somewhat helped to cheer me up after Finn destroyed me on Board 4. Well done Finn. You were humble in victory. Very well deserved. After an early bath for myself, I was able to enjoy the other 3 games. Board 1 saw Zander and Ken play a same colour bishop endgame in a locked position and neither Zander or Ken could breakthrough. A draw was agreed. Good game to both. Tony managed to win a piece on board 2 and his endgame play was too strong forcing a resignation from Anton. Well played both. On board 3, Mike and Florence played out a Bishop vs Knight endgame. A lot of manoeuvring and Florence sacked her Knight to try force a draw. Unfortunately for Florence, Mike was able to defend his remaining pawn with the bishop. Mike managed to promote the pawn to win but Florence made it very difficult for Mike. Well played both. Unlucky Florence, excellent game of chess. Thank you Southbourne. Good luck in your remaining games.

Good close match - Well done Poole

A very good exciting match which looked promising for Southbourne at one stage with the early win from Finn then a solid draw on board 1 but a great comeback for the Poole team with good wins from Tony and Mike (ex-Dorset Chess Champion!). Best of luck to the Poole team for the rest of the season.
