Board 2 finished first after a game where all the pieces were swapped off fairly quickly leaving a 7 pawn and king ending. If either side tried to break through then that person would probably lose so it ended in an agreed draw. Board 3 finished next. Despite being a pawn up David offered a draw as he could not see a win. Board 1 lost next after a hard battle and not being able to complete his 35 moves in 75 minutes. Board 4's game was an exciting finish. Chris was under time pressure and his king was being attacked from all sides. Chris defended well and towards the end took a bishop with a rook exposing Susan's Rook at the same time. With just 2 minutes left on his clock Chris offered a draw. As a draw was enough to ensure that Highcliffe won the match Susan agreed and we could all go home.
