“Thank you very much to Wimborne for another excellent match. Great to get competitive chess back up and running. The evening started off with a draw between Robert and Graham on board 4 which left the tie still in the balance with both teams needing 3.5 to win. Next up Dan and Alan agreed a draw shortly afterwards. Then Adam prevailed against Peter after a tense minor piece battle in a locked position swiftly followed by myself converting a position a pawn up against John. This left the attention to the top 2 boards to win the match. The position on board 1 however was slightly better for Christian in 4 pawns a rook and a knight each with Ian having one isolated meant that a draw was agreed between the players. Match won Bruce battled on and finally ground Steve down meaning the game finished 4.5-1.5. Thanks again to Wimborne for the match.” - Richard
