Well played Poole A

A good close encounter. However, the tie always looked like going Poole A's way following a comfortable victory by John Weatherlake on board 4 and a quick draw on board 1. In this latter game there was a repetition of moves where if either player deviated they would be worse. Mike Duggan had a dominating position against me on board 3 and I had to defend carefully not to be rolled over. A few inaccuracies by Mike let me off the hook and allowed me to steer the game into calmer waters when the game was soon drawn. On board 2, James managed to find a way to trap Nick's queen but Nick had an active rook and minor piece for it. The game became very complex and I did not see much of it but I understand it may have finished with some kind of perpetual. Well played Poole A on a deserved victory and they are now the Christmas number 1! Good luck for the rest of the season.
