An important match in the

An important match in the challenge to avoid relegation and the spoils went to Poole in a hard fought tussle. First to finish were Graham and Sergiu in a game where there never seemed to be much in it. Peter and Cip were in a Kings Indian where the queenside attack for White came more quickly than the kingside attack for Black and eventually this led to a decisive material advantage. 1.5 - 0.5 to Ringwood but with 2 tough games to go. Martin and Kevin were in a symmetrical English. I don't pretend to understand these positions so I can't say who if anyone was better for most of the game but in the end some tactics worked out well for Martin and netted him a piece and the game. This left the two other Martins fighting in what had been a fluctuating Sveshnikov, though it always seemed Black had the better chances. Eventually a rook ending was reached in which Martin O had an extra pawn which he managed to convert. Well played Poole!
