First game of the season and it is time for friendly fire - Bournemouth B vs Bournemouth C. Board 4 was first to finish. Kieron used an offbeat response to Robert's opening and was better out of the opening. The position was complicated and Kieron's king got stuck in the corner with a bishop on its way to checkmate him and he resigned. Board 1 was a balanced position but in time trouble Thorsten blundered and Paul Jackson took the win. James was up material against Andrew for a large portion of the game on board 3, but Andrew was causing problems throughout. James decided to keep playing for the win and eventually managed to get it. The final game to finish was board 2 between Paul and Daniel. It was a see-saw game with multiple pins of pieces for both sides. White had damaged pawn structure and black was unable to castle making tactics very possible. White seemed to be better and winning at different points but then black seemed to be completely winning though material was equal. A fortuitous trade meant it was a pawn race between white and black with white winning by a tempo to get the win. Bournemouth B squeeze out the win 3-1.
