An interesting set of 4 games that all seemed to finish at around the same time! On board 1 it looked roughly equal, but Martin was up on time. He won quite suddenly. Next was board 4. Stefan was up an exchange and a pawn quite early on with a knight sac and continued to force the advantage until Alan resigned. Board 2 was a fascinating game. Malcolm had his weetabix this morning and so had what looked like a devastating attack on the king, but I managed to navigate the position trading off the attacking pieces and a desperado that looked to leave an endgame where I had far better pawn structure. However, a combination of a bishop on f3 and a pawn on f4 left my king stranded on the h file in what would become a mating net, despite what I thought was an unstoppable pawn on the queenside. It was too slow, Malcolm mated me. Finally James played Robert in a game which had equal material for a long time, though Rob was quite passive. James managed to convert the game to tie the match. Final score 2-2 and a well contested match.

A very enjoyable night of

A very enjoyable night of chess. I thought you showed great sportsmanship to let Malcolm finish the mate off, especially given the nature of the position previously.
