Fascinating night of Chess.

Fascinating night of Chess. Thanks to Poole for hosting. At the halfway point is was looking like a win for Bournemouth but full credit to Poole for clawing back for the win. Board 2 was first to finish with a draw. I had managed to get a winning position which eventually became two pawns and a rook versus a rook but Xander swindled the draw with some clever play and a perpetual, this would end up being decisive. Board 4 was next as Paul Bland was up a piece but the initiative created by Ellis slowly crushed him. Board 1 was another excellent display by James who seems to be unstoppable at the moment. He has a 3 on 2 on the queenside and g pawn in the end so Andrew threw in the towel. This meant it came down to Board 3. With two same coloured bishops and 4 pawns versus 3 Stefan had drawing chances, but he left his h pawn hanging to bishop thinking it would be trapped by g3. However to go and win the bishop would have left the king horribly out of place and likely a 3 pawns versus a bishop scenario as Tim could have sacked the bishop for the remaining pawns but he didn’t need to in the end finishing the game with a zugswang that led to a win for Poole congratulations and we will see you in the rematch later in the season
