Congratulations to Highcliffe on a good win. Bournemouth defaulted on Board 1. Board 4 was first to finish a host of exchanges took place early leaving a material equal game, with 1 minor piece each , a draw was quickly agreed. Board 2 was next to finish, white got his opening move order wrong , and instead of taking his medicine compounded his mistake by further inaccuracies, Roger took full advantage and gained a deserved win. Payers now gathered to watch board 3, Ron appeared to have a slight advantage, but Joseph fought back and gained a winning position with a pawn on the 7th rank supported by his King, but to silent gasps didn't promote his pawn, lost his Rook allowing Ron to sacrifice his Rook for the passed porn and leave a King and 3 pawn endgame, with Blacks King being misplaced on the 7th Rank Ron activated his King won the 3 pawns and black resigned before the inevitable checkmate occurred. Thank you to Highcliffe for a night of chess played in good spirit by both teams.
