On paper this was going to be a very tight match - and so it proved. The first game decided was on board 2 where in form Franz played a nice game winning with a neat combination at the end. Ronnie always looked to be in a lot of trouble against Mark and never really got into the game. On top board I lost the thread in a better position and drifted into a worse position so was happy to take the repetition. The deciding game was very un-balanced from the beginning, I suspect Geoff defended it very well. It was not clear who was better in the final position when a draw was agreed.
