In, what should have been a fairly even match it turned out to be c comfortable win by Wimborne. Weymouth failed to gain any advantage with the white pieces, whilst in the battle of the Steves Wimbornes' Stephen Appleby proved too strong with the white pieces against Steve Blake winning a pawn in the openning and dominating throughout. A careless move, where I failed to analyse a critical line properly, led me to drop a second pawn in the Benko. There was no recovery from that position and no realistic drawing possibility. Well played Grzegorz and Wimborne in general - well deserved victors. I'm sure our B team will do better tomorrow...
