It soon became clear that Wimborne were missing its board 3 and Graham valiantly stepped in after 20 minutes. On top board I played an awful opening and Mike took full advantage and despite some wriggling he won comfortably which gave me a chance to watch the other matches! Board 2 was very double edged with Andrew sacrificing a piece for activity with Grzegorz king stuck in middle. In a very exciting ending with pieces flying everywhere Grzegorz found a mating line to win. Board 4 seemed to have an advantage for Bill and he ended up with a significant passed pawn which Mark could not stop. On board 3 Graham played a very clever game keeping everything level. Eventually all pieces apart from black squared bishops and 6 pawns each with Geoff having the pressure but after about 70 moves Geoff could not break through and a draw was agreed. Thanks to Dorchester for an entertaing evening of chess and particularly for Graham for standing in.
