Just before the start of the match I found out that Ian could not play as he had to take care of a family crises. So one up and there was no very little chance Wimborne could win the match by the 3-1 scoreline they required. Perhaps deflated, or maybe the fine weather meant a lack of enthusiasm from both teams but the match quickly fizzed out. Jon equalized easily, Andrej was clearly better, but with a long way to go. That left top board playing out a dull position. Weymouth win Division 1, but perhaps not in the way we would have liked after a long season in a highly competitive league.

Finally the long awaited

Finally the long awaited clash between Highcliffe and Weymouth was upon us, myself and Allan agreed to exchange team lists to make the the games would be competitive. On this occasion Highcliffe prevailed, all our players hit form and chess was the winner. Weymouth will be back to play Poole so we will not be able to defend our title. So good luck to both.
