Tonight was a very competitive evening with all the games going deep in the middle game or end game. The first board to finish was board 3. Steve had the better of the opening and managed to convert that into a pawn and then a second pawn. With white’s pawn structure in disarray and no chance of counter play Malcolm resigned. Board 1 and 2 finished at similar times. Paolo played an unbalanced position in terms of structure, but material was equal. They agreed on a draw. James seemed to zoom through the opening and was up a pawn and about 30 minutes of clock. James ended up using that time to then convert to a win. The final game to finish was board 4. Rob and I played a position that I expect was 0 on the computer for about 30 odd moves. Rob offered a queen trade in a way that meant I won a pawn and then quickly a second pawn and although it got quite hairy in the time scramble I was able to convert it into a win. Thanks to Ringwood for a competitive game in good spirit.
