Board 2 was first to finish

Board 2 was first to finish with White getting an advantage from the opening but no material difference. Black offered a perpetual and white accepted. Next to finish was board 3. Steve played well and was up 3 pawns so the opposite coloured bishops couldn’t hold the draw for Wimbourne. Next to finish was board 1. Black had two passed pawns which marched up the board and white was helpless to stop them. The final game was board 4 to decide the match. Initially Femi looked to be in a fairly good position with John in time trouble, however John managed to get a passer to the 7th rank that was uncapturable without losing material due to opposite coloured bishops. Femi turned down the draw and then for the next hour looked like he was going to maybe lose a completely drawn game however John blundered mate in 1 after playing on increment for an hour. Great match thanks Wimbourne for a fun and nerve wracking evening
