Hi, An excellent night in Purbeck and not just because we won! Blocked roads and temperatures of -4, just seemed to add to the sense of adventure! First to finish was board 1 when Graham offered a draw in a position he was slightly better in. Steve shook his hand before he had finished saying "I'll have a think ab...". Next to finish was my game on board two - after a dubious opening I found myself a pawn up when I should have been a pawn down. My opponents efforts to get his pawn back then backfired and rather than be position and more material down he resigned. Board 3 was an excellent game and hopefully will get printed. From the side-lines it seemed "obvious" white was better but as Steve showed after the game with a line involving a nice queen sac black could have caused serious problems. Board 4 had been tough for us throughout - we were two pawns down out of the opening and stayed that way till the end when Malcolm resigned once the match was secured. A pleasure to play Purbeck and look forward to the return.
