First to finish was board 2 when (Purbeck's) John found a neat combination to win a piece. On board 3, Nick told me afterwards that he had been concentrating on tactics on one side of the board when his opponent found a move to win material on the other side! Derek had space and the initiative for most of the game but the position became too blocked to make any progress. On board 1, Geoff had a won game by around move 8 but a few inaccuracies reduced that to 'just' a clear advantage. We then both made mistakes as the game swung between roughly equal to an advantage for Geoff. We ended up in a rook and pawn ending which finally reduced to a dead drawn R + P v R . Phew! Thanks to Dorchester for a great battle played in a friendly atmosphere.
