A very entertaining evening to kick off the Dorset League Division 3! Two balanced teams faced off in Highcliffe with a swinging game on board 4 where Dan and Andre would see a tight position turn into a Dorchester win due to one tenacious past pawn on the 'h' file. On board two I was able to trap my opponent's bishop. After this triumph I marched on his King with a pawn storm and achieved a mating position. Well played to Mr. Balem who put up the best fight he could. All eyes turn then to board 3 where Roger and Sidney played a game of maneuvering as a very mobile and delicate position turned into an exchange up for Roger giving Highcliffe the match. A win for Highcliffe and perhaps good omens for the rest of the season. (lets see if those words ages well) I personally enjoyed the evening and would like to thank Dorchester/ Weymouth for driving across the county for a good days chess.
