Board 1, Oliver was up

On Board 1, Oliver was up against a solid opponent in Angus and ended up in a tough position out of the opening from which he couldn't really recover. He tried hard but eventually succumbed and resigned. Meanwhile, the game on Board 3 was a frantic game that swung back and forth with momentum. Both players appeared intent on filling the whole score sheet. At several points, Jason Wang appeared to be in a winning position but just couldn't manage to find the move to capitalize on this and the game ended in a draw. The games on boards 2 and 4 were slower paced that those on boards 1 and 3. On board 4, the long game was close, although unfortunately for Southbourne, Joshua lost out in the mid game through one move. Nevertheless, he fought valiantly and came very close to saving the game but in the end his opponent, Daniel, prevailed. Well fought, a good battle. Board 2 were the last to finish. A well-played game by Benjamin who calmly capitalised on his opponent's mistake. Many thanks to Poole for the great spirit in which the match was played and for their support for inexperienced and junior players.
