The first league match of the season was won comfortably by Highcliffe. The top board was a close affair but I overstretched on attacking on the king side and it suddenly it all fell apart. Well played Bruce. On 2 Christian had a stranglehold and managed to pick up a couple of pawns and then forcing off the queens with threat of mate to leave a winning end game. On 3 was very close and ended up as a opposite colour bishop and pawn ending which always looked like a draw. Board 4 was very entertaing and looked like Steve was winning when won queen for rook and bishop but Ken's active rooks and a passed pawn eventually was too much for Steve.
