A closer game than the score suggests. On board 3 young Harry played a game beyond his years surprising Ralph who even considered briefly offering a draw in the end game until Ralph realized that he could push for the win and a few moves later Harry resigned. Sam vs Brian was similar in that even though Brian was out-rated by some 284 points he put up more of a fight than Sam expected right into the end game. Then, again, Sam considered offering a draw which at that point would have been enough for Wimborne to win the match, but, once again. decided to push for the win and a few moves later Brian too resigned. Will Bourne, making his debut to OTB league chess, was always in control of his game against veteran David Burt, and it ended predictably with a win for Will On the other hand, Andre was always going to have a tough time with his game against Tim, and although it was even for some time, in the end Tim was just too strong for Andre, and Poole got their first point.
