I enclose Tony Paish's description of this match, including his astonishing win against Steve Berry: "Harris and Collins gradually outplayed their respective opponents in lengthy middle games full of manoeuvring. Callan had one of his bishops trapped by pawns early, but gained three pawns in compensation, and it gradually became clear that the pawns were stronger. Reaching the endgame, he might actually have won, but being very short of time, settled for a draw by perpetual check. Mine was the last game to finish. By a clever tactic, Berry got the better game out of the opening, but he later overlooked a key move for White which gave me strong counterplay and a roughly equal game. In trying to achieve an initiative to break the temporary deadlock, Black allowed White to seize control of the centre and thereafter to trap a pawn-grabbing knight, which had to be given up for two pawns (one of them dangerously passed). This proved not quite enough compensation in the time-scrambled ending."
