Croydon & District Chess League

Welcome to the LMS Home Page of the Croydon & District Chess League.

We are a small and friendly league for chess teams in South London. Matches are held at the venues of our member clubs which are in Battersea, Coulsdon, Croydon, Lewisham, Petts Wood, Streatham, Thornton Heath, Wallington and West Wickham.

Matches played in the league are for teams of four players - so only one car is needed to take a team to its away fixtures. Teams compete in four divisions according to strength (see playing rules for details) and there is a fifth division where games are played to rapidplay time limits.

Our season starts in October each year and teams can apply to join up to the end of August before the start of the new season.

You'll find more information about the league on this platform, including news, recent results and league tables. If you are a chess player and you would like to find a team to play in, contact your nearest club. Clubs thinking of applying for membership of the league should contact one of the league officials for further information.

The Rating Limits for our Competitions are:

Croydon Shield: Open

Martin Cath: 7800

Dave Luckin: 6600

Deric Cox: 5800

David Hodgson (Rapidplay Division): 7800
