Privacy Notice
Legal basis for collecting data:  Data are collected with the consent of League players for the purposes of running chess competitions such as the Blackpool and Fylde Chess League, the Challenge Cup, the Rapidplay Cup and the Fylde Individual Championship.
The League shares information with the Lancashire Chess Association and the English Chess Federation in accordance with guidance published by the ECF.

Data Collected:  The following data are collected:
(a) League Officials and Club Officials:  Name, address, telephone number and email address
(b) Players:  Name, Date of Birth, Sex, Club, Rating, Rapidplay Rating, Grading Code, Membership Number and Rating Category.
(c) Match Reports.
(d) Email Distribution List.  Held as a group in Google Contacts.
(e) Addresses and Telephone numbers of participants in the Fylde Individual Championship.
How is it stored?
1  The Handbook - Details of League Officials and Club Officials are published in the League Handbook.  This document is held as a Microsoft Publisher file by the League Secretary.  A PDF rendition of the document is circulated to the League's email distribution list for comment prior to publication at the start of the season.  The file is held on a PC at the League Secretary's house.  The PC is password protected.
2  The ECF League Management System which is provided by the ECF.  The storage of data in this system is covered by the ECF's Privacy Notice which is here:  https://www.englishchess.org.uk/ecf-privacy-notice.
3  The Fylde Individual Championship Controller holds a list of names, addresses and telephone numbers of the participants in the championship.
To whom you pass it on and for what purpose:
The information which relates to the players is used for grading purposes - this is shared with the ECF by the Registration and Fixtures Secretary.
The League Secretary's details are shared with the ECF and published in the ECF Year Book.
A copy of the Handbook is shared with Lancashire Chess Association in order that the details of club officials can be updated.  Blackpool and Fylde Chess League is affiliated to the LCA.
The list of participants in the Fylde Individual Championship is shared with other participants in order that they can communicate and set up the fixtures.
For how long do you keep the data?:
Handbooks are retained for archive purposes - the League Secretary holds electronic copies of the Handbook dating back to 2004.
Data is held on the League website for an indefinite period.
What can the Officials and the Players do to limit how the League uses their data
Officials and Players must positively assent to the continued use of their data by the League otherwise the data will be removed from the League's Handbook when it is next published and removed from the League's Email Distribution List with immediate effect. Officials and Players can ask for their personal data to be removed from the League's systems at any time in the future and we will act to comply.  The data will still be present in published handbooks which many people retain as historical documents.
