Comment for organiser

A strong Wimbourne team proved too much for Highcliffe this evening. Board 4 concluded first with an agreed draw in a tight position. On board 1 Nathaniel managed to get his queen and rook on 7th rank vs Thomas which proved decisive. In my game vs Steve we both had attacking opportunities but the game became consolidated with no side being able to break through and a draw was agreed with both of us short on time. Board 3 was last to finish with Neil defending well a pawn down and running on increments, but Peter managed to trap Neil's knight in a rook and minor pieces end game through precise play. Well played Wimbourne who were worthy winners.

Thanks Highcliffe for…

Thanks Highcliffe for hosting the evening .

Some interesting games with Nathaniel providing the usual "fireworks " on board 1 . My game petered out when the Queens came off fairly early.Peter's game had a difficult ending for both sides but his opponents minor pieces had no good squares to go to whilst his did , eventually   Peter was able to push up his King side pawns and force errors from his opponent who was on increments

Steve's game reached an impasse where neither side could progress , both having entrenched pawn formations.
