Thorsten and Thomas were first to finish - a match with attacking chances on both sides that ended with an agreed draw. Lindsay and Theo also agreed a draw with an accurately played Caro Kann, leading to no real advantage for either player. I played an Old Benoni defence against Stephen, who with a pawn at d5 and exploited my cramped position leading to an error where he skewered my rook and won. Ron was in a similarly dire position but soldiered on a piece down in a Queen and Pawn ending; Daniel in an attempt to avoid repetitive Queen checks got his king in amongst his own pawns and Ron (who has a reputation for snatching victory from the jaws of defeat) managed to find an unlikely Checkmate, stealing a draw overall for Highcliffe.
