The match could have gone…
The match could have gone either way.
I managed to win my game when Martin overlooked my mating threats after sacrificing a knight.
Board 3 was very exciting and was down to an end game of rook and knight and a few pawns each after seemed like 40 minutes. Ellis was winning but could not find the killer punch and could have taken a draw but went for the win but Nathaniel found a way to win. That left Wimborne 2 up.
Bill and Zander were having a very close game but Bill allowed a double pass pawn on the queen side and could not control the position and Zander played very carefully to win the game.
Board 4 looked all the world a win for Tim who controlled the game and went for a winning ending but Peter hung in and Tim could not find the winning line so a draw was agreed.
An entertaining game and Wimborne slightly lucky to win.
