Away win for Wimborne- board 2 was first to finish when both players agreed a draw, Ralph said there was a perpetual on the board in a even position. Board 1 was next to finish, Ed was looking like he was going to checkmate Jensen , but White sacrificed material and managed to escape and ultimately go on and secure the win. Jake managed to promote his passed pawn and draw the match level. So all down to board 4 , longest match of the night, White doubled his C pawns on the tenth move , which in hindsight would have implications some hour and a half later, Ralph won the exchange on move 15 , I managed to win the exchange back on move 27 leaving Rook +7 verses Rook + 6 pawns. From then on David's superior end game technique duly converted the win for himself and Wimborne , well played. Thank you to Wimborne for an enjoyable evening , we look forward to our two further encounters this season.
