Captains report

The annual two towns (the chess leagues version of the charity shield) was contested between our two great teams. Thank you to Poole for hosting this match. Myself and David put many hours into rounding up Dorsets finest players and we again succeeded. 28 players from Bournemouth and 20 from Poole. We agreed to lend 4 players to Poole trying to balance the grades. There was some confusion as to who had attended. Massive apologies to Roger Howell who got missed and ended up playing a meaningless match against the very strong David Fuller he fought valiantly although outgraded by nearly 500 points ! Can’t believe that having arranged the pairings I ended up playing Zander, won’t make that mistake again ! The evening went very smoothly and due to the skill of the captains the match was drawn. Bournemouth retain the trophy as we comprehensively won last year. Thank you to everyone who attended for making this event special. Best to all Rich
