The match was a lot closer than score suggests. On 2 I had an interesting game against Paul where I sacrificed the exchange for a strong pair of bishops and the bishops proved to be too strong. Eddie had an even game but was able to get an advantage in the ending with his king invading his opponents king side. Mark had an early advantage with space and kept control to win the game. On top board Christian seemed to have all the play and looked like winning but Allan with both just using increments turned it around in rook and pawn ending to force a draw.

Thank you Wimborne, excellent hosts and challenging opponents all night long. I was pleased with how Highcliffe played, competitive on each board, but the final result was a bit one sided, we were outgunned at the last. Well played Wimborne. Ken Smith
