Barry made an early mistake on board 2 leaving Tom an 8 move mate. Jan and Simon battled out a well fought draw. Ron managed to get a draw by stalemate one pawn down in the end game, and Andrew escaped what looked like an overwhelming king side attack in which Stephen sacrificed a knight but could not make it pay. Very fine margins went the way of Highcliffe tonight to give a well needed victory in a friendly and exciting match.
