Regrettably Gt Lever defaulted a board. One player's wife is in hospital. Another player had to withdraw on the day of the match due to a family emergency. Eccles were informed on the day of the match. This was sufficient to avoid someone a wasted journey and seemed acceptable to Eccles. Hopefully this can be taken in mitigation.

Gt.Lever - Board 6 default

One game point has been deducted from Gt.Lever for defaulting a board. However, a club may appeal against the penalty be contacting the MCF with any mitigating circumstances.

Gt.Lever -Board 5 non-ECF member

Gt.Lever's board 5 played his fourth MCF match of the season as a non-ECF member and was therefore ineligible for the match. Therefore, while the actual result of the individual game ill be forwarded to the ECF for rating, the game is awarded to Eccles for MCF match result purposes.

Scoring

Whilst I cannot claim to understand the intricacies of the penalty system, it seems to me that there should be 6 points available in total. So I think the adjustment should be (-2) to (+2) giving -.5 to 6.5. I am also wondering about the total number of penalty points (1) there was a default (2) 24 hours notice not given (3) not a member of ECF. So the adjustment is (-3) to 3 giving -1.5 to 7.5. On the other hand, the above description seems to increase the difference by two points for each penalty. So perhaps there should be a half point adjustment in the match points of each team per indiscretion. In the last example this would mean an adjustment of (-1.5) to (+1.5) giving a final score of (-1) to 7. As this has an unnatural feeling about it, any elaboration would be invaluable.

Penalty

The board 5 result is reversed, making the score 5.5 - 0.5 to Eccles; Great Lever have a penalty point for the default with less than 24 hours' notice, making the score 5.5 to -0.5; simple

Penalty Points

Thanks Mick . That is totally correct.- unless we are both wrong ! As always, a team can appeal against any penalty given to them.

Gt.Lever board 6

Following an appeal by Gt.Lever, the MCF have decided that the cause of Gt.Lever's default on board 6 was for a genuine and unavoidable reason and therefore have reinstated the game point originally deleted.
