These are always enjoyable matches. Well done to the Highcliffe A players for their comprehensive win.
The first to finish (in the 1st hour) was on board 3 soon after Madison had won Russell's queen for a R + B. The bottom board was an interesting game where Ken had managed to get one of his pawns to the 7th rank but in the R + B v R + N endgame he then settled for a perpetual check perhaps fearing the potential of Finn's central advanced pawns. James lost his knight for 2 pawns and despite battling hard the game looked uncomfortable and Bruce converted. I was being outplayed by Christian until, surprisingly, with a minute left on my clock, he allowed me an interesting piece sac when he was forced to sac a piece back. The position exploded with both both of us soon giving up our queens! The game was probably drawn but I lost my way in the complications.
Good luck to the Highcliffe team in the remaining matches.
