The idea of the Friendly Development League is to introduce new players to competitive chess, to get ratings, and to have evenly matched players.

• Before the matches, teams captains should tell each other what the strength of their team is in an effort to match players of similar strengths.
• The number of boards shall be 3 - with the option to play more if both captains agree ( the match card has 4 boards just in case )
• The time limit shall be 1 hour for all moves. Captains can agree to play an increment as long as each player gets at least an hour to qualify for standard play rating.
