Match report

First to finish was bd5 where Geoff missed a tactic on the key d4 square which let Bob's pieces into his position. Bds 2&3 were next to finish. On 3 Tom managed to break open the position and exploit Cliff's lack of developed pieces whilst Paul had been under pressure the whole get on bd2 but finally was at least equalising and offered a draw which Peter accepted. On 1 Pete had confused Roy with a slightly usual line in the Nimzowitch defence and had more space and better pieces but no open lines. Eventually Roy broke out and the game ended in a draw with neither side able to make any progress. John was the last to finish - he had had the better of things for most of the game but Phil had defended well and both sides ended up just with a Bishop in a lockedpawn structure so game drawn. That left the result as a win for Lytham1 and everything still to play for in League1.
