Lytham 3 were very fortunate in winning this match. All matches were keenly contested with Keith Sansom gaining a creditable draw in the first match to finish against Bob. Marvin got the better of Pat in a rook and pawn ending with Marvin having the extra pawn and being able to queen it and put Lytham 4 in front. However, in another rook and pawn ending Colin got the better of John with a more active rook and this levelled the match. John Regan won it for Lytham 3 after winning the exchange but was only just able to meet the first time control and pushed his luck to finally mate Simon whilst edging close to the final minute of the game..
