Graham had to defend well against Ben's Kingside push but agreed a draw on Board 1. On Board 3 Marvin lost to Ken Lawson an improving player. Next on Board 4 Simon sacrificed material to mount a mating attempt which looked to be losing, but Martin, short of time, made an error allowing Simon to be able to queen a pawn. This left Board 2 as the deciding game in which Darren eventually lost on time in a very difficult position after an intense struggle against Steve. A good result for Leyland.
