A lively and eventful drawn match. I didn`t see much of the play on Board 1 but after a sharp opening a draw was agreed in the middle game. On 2 Jonny`s London System with queenside castling led to an interesting game. White was tempted by an unsound sac on f7 and it appeared that Black had a clear advantage but believed that white had a perpetual when a draw was agreed. On 3 Seb won the exchange in the middle game but this advantage was nullified by Andrei getting a pawn to the seventh. An interesting endgame was in prospect when Black unfortunately blundered a rook away to a backwards bishop move. On 4 Colin admitted to me after the game that his play was poor and Joyal capitalised very efficiently.
