Poulton fielded three players in their first ever OTB League match, all automatically listed incorrectly as 1825 grade. Ken and Williams game was entertaining. Ken sacrificed a knight with promising threats, but William was able to defend successfully. Liam was the first to finish, mating Martin with a knight. Niigel played well against Geoff in his first ever match game. Matthew played well against Leyland's Ken, but Ken's two centrally-placed knights and his Q with a line on Matthew's King proved decisive at the end, removing Matthew's threat of a back-rank mate . An even enjoyable match, much appreciated by all.
