Andrew, I believe that when a result is recorded as a default it is not graded. Zia, can you confirm this please? Also Zia, is it not normal practice to record the individual names of anyone in default in order to be sure that the grading limits for the particular tournament have not been exceeded? (In this case of course it is not relevant as two of the defaulters were the top two boards so the average of those who played was well under the limit).

When team sheets are swooped at the start of a match both teams should check that they are within the grade limit and in grade order. If a player does not turn up his/her name should be struck off and a default should be written on the sheet and entered as such on the LMS. Default results are not graded.
